Marklin has appointed Wm K. Walthers as the exclusive distributor for LGB products in North America effective January 1, 2009. Walthers will provide warranty and retail service for LGB products, and will stock a full assortment of LGB parts. Marklin, Inc, New Berlin, Wisconsin will provide marketing and product/technical support to Walthers and the North American market. The German company Ernst Paul Lehmann filed for bankruptcy in late 2006, only a few short months after LGB of America (LGBoA) was spun off into its own company. LGBoA was one of the companies that bid on the purchase of Lehmann's remaining assets, but lost to Märklin, another German model train manufacturer. Marklin resumed shipping and production in the fall 2007, with the LGB brand intact. Marklin has been distributing since resuming production in 2007, new products to the rest of the world.
