Nothing could be more typical of the steam era in North America than the large tank of a water tower, resting on heavy beams. In the "Durango" water tower the huge water container held together with strong steel hoops also represents the most important part of the model. The wood grain effect on the many beams, planks, boards and roofing shingles looks particularly effective. The tank can, of course, be filled with water and emptied via the swinging arm of the water tower. After all, the original of the "Durango" water tower held approximately 50,000 gallons of water for the thirsty steam ironhorses of the time.
