LGB 20831 Aster Built RG K-28 #257 Limited Edition in Wooden Box , Collection item
Only run on test track. Excellent condition with original paperwork and tool bag.
The K-28 steam locos were the last new locomotives bought for the narrow gauge mountain lines of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. They were among the most powerful locomotives ever to run on this line. Those fortunate enough to have seen one or even two of these powerful engines pulling a long string of freight cars up the steep grades of the Colorado Rockies will never forget the sight. Today, a number of K-28s can be enjoyed in their original setting on the famous tourist lines of the Durango & Silverton and the Cumbres & Toltec Railroads.
The LGB model
This very special limited edition model is built by Aster for Ernst Paul Lehmann Patentwerk. Only 500 models produced. It features hand-crafted metal construction and proven LGB components. The model replicates all features of the fascinating prototype. The massive boiler features intricate pipes and fittings. Two large air pumps front the smoke box; on the prototype they provide the air needed to brake long trains on steep descents. The large cylinders power sizable drive rods, which turn outside counterweights that are connected to the drive wheels located inside the frame.
*This model is equipped with a decoder interface and can be equipped with LGB/Lenz Multi-Train System Decoders (55020) using the LGB Decoder Interface Cable (55026).
