LGB 23252 Columbus® Forney Steam Loco, w/Sound, Collection Item

Forney locomotives were popular on American short lines during the late 19th century. The twin-axle truck under the cab made them run smoothly. Their special ability to run in reverse simplified operations and eliminated the need for turntables or wyes. In fact, Forneys are still in use at theme parks and tourist railways. This LGB model features a twin-axle drivetrain with a front, leading axle as well as the traditional rear, trailing truck. Plus, the model features the high-gloss finish of a beautifully restored loco. But the digital sound of this LGB loco is even more impressive than the sight. As the loco starts, you can hear the whooshing of the steam as it leaves the cylinders. The whistle sounds twice, and the loco starts moving with slow, powerful exhaust chuffs. Hear it and you´ll be hooked! The Prototype Forney locomotives were popular in North America during the late 19th century. The truck under the cab and fuel bunker made these locos run smoothly, and for short lines, the Forney's ability to run in reverse as well as forward simplified operations and eliminated the need for turntables. A few Forneys are still in use, including the prototype for this model, which carries tourists at a theme park. The Model This detailed replica features: - weather-resistant construction - prototypical livery and lettering - authentic leading truck - operating drive rods - authentic steam piping and detailing - detailed cab interior with engineer and controls - digital electronic steam sound with - wheel synchronized steam "chuff" sound - bell, whistle and starting whistle sounds - coal shoveling sounds - brake sounds - magnetic bell and whistle trigger - standing sounds (e.g., air pump) - remote control sounds (with Multi-Train System) - four-way power control switch - protected gearbox with seven-pole Bühler motor - four powered wheels - one traction tire - six power pickups (4 wheel, 2 shoe) - voltage stabilization circuit (5 volt) - smoke generator (5 volt) - lighted cab interior - automatic directional lanterns - reliable "flat" multi-purpose socket - Length: 445 mm (17.5 in.) - Weight: 3500 grams (7.7 lb.)
